Who are we?

Mint Alloys was formed in 2006 to offer a mobile alloy wheel refurbishment service in and around the Herts, Beds and Bucks areas. Over time Mint Alloys grew to a point where we were able to expand our business, this means we can now offer a full wheel refurbishment service along with the part wheel refurbishment of the mobile alloy wheel repair service.

Mint Alloys has invested in state of the art equipment to ensure we continue to produce high levels of quality workmanship.

Mint Alloys are conveniently situated in Silsoe Bedfordshire which gives good links to both the M1 and A1 as well as Milton Keynes, Bedford, Luton, Hitchin and Stevenage. Mint Alloys offer a free collection and delivery service in and around the area (20mile Radius of Silsoe).

How do we do it?

We only specialise in alloy wheel repairs and this is reflected in the quality finish of our work. We only do full refurbishments. We do not do blow-ins (local repairs) as these repairs do not last.

Our fully equipped workshop allows us to fully strip wheels of the old paint and lacquer which means that we are not painting over old paint or a poor quality surface due to previous repairs. We remove any kerb damage using hand tools and when required we will fill any deep gouges with a special high temperature filler. We are able to prepare the stripped wheel in an aqua blast cabinet which means the wheels are cleaned thoroughly as well as keyed before we start to apply any coatings. All wheels are then powder coat primed in either Grey, Black or White depending on the colour and type of finish required. Wheels are then degassed in the oven at 200 degrees which will allow the pours on the wheel to open up and allow any trapped air to escape which will help reduce the chance of the powder coat popping during the curing process. Once degassed the wheel is then primed in a powder coat and again placed back in the oven to cure, once cured the wheel is then painted using a water-based wet paint to the required colour and is then lacquered using a acrylic Powder coat
